Davidoff's bold move to launch a cigar crafted entirely from Nicaraguan tobaccos breathed new life into the already strong Davidoff brand, bringing new smokers to the line and winning accolades like never before. But Davidoff didn't turn to a contract manufacturer, or seek to open its own Nicaraguan factory—the company instead imported Nicaraguan leaf to its efficient Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic (which is run by Hendrik Kelner, who has overseen Davidoff production for more than 20 years) and made Nicaraguan cigars the Davidoff way. The Davidoff Nicaragua Toro earned our No. 3 spot on last year's Top 25 list, and the robusto size is also a standout smoke, with pleasant notes of coconut and savory wood, complemented by touches of cinnamon.
