The wrapper on this Churchill is a bit coarse, but it burns and draws evenly, leaving salty, olive-like flavors on the palate before hints of dried orange peel and a faint touch of raisins. Medium to full bodied.

There’s a reddish-brown tint to the wrapper of this cigar, which immediately comes on strong with coffee, leather and a licorice sweetness. Leather notes recur on the finish.

This cigar has a wrapper like well-tanned leather, with excellent oils. It smokes well, with good texture to the smoke, and it has complex, full-bodied flavors of leather, earth and sweet fruit. It's rich and spicy, and improves with each puff.

A complex spiciness marks this cigar, and there is a dark sweet cocoa element on the palate. It is full-bodied, and has a sweet mineral note on the finish.

Fuente Fuente OpusX is one of the most talked about, written about and sought after brands in modern cigar history. Since its inception the brand has continued to earn the fanfare with quality and consistency—they are extraordinary cigars and frequent visitors to our top 25 list. (The OpusX Double Corona was our No. 1 cigar of 2005.) The Reserva D’Chateau is a classic Churchill size, blended to the tastes of Carlos Fuente Jr., who likes his cigars strong, spicy and resonant. This cigar doesn’t disappoint. It immediately comes on strong with coffee notes and a powerful leathery flavor that refuses to leave the palate. This is the fourth Fuente-made cigar on our Top 25 list.

The Fuente Fuente OpusX is a dynamo. It’s been on the market for a decade, yet the Fuente family still cannot meet the demand for the smokes, which are often sold for many times the suggested retail price. Last year, the Fuente Fuente OpusX Double Corona was our Cigar of the Year, which did little to diminish the demand. This year, we rated the slightly smaller Reserva d’Chateau, a 7 by 48 Churchill. Like all Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars, the Reserva d’Chateaus are a rare find, powered by a shade-grown, Cuban-seed wrapper from Chateau de la Fuente. The cigars are full bodied and brimming with complex, powerful flavors ideally suited for after a large meal. Like virtually everything crafted by Fuente, the construction is impeccable.
